The ambition was to create an iconic destination that would attract visitors from around the world while celebrating the history and cultural significance of the Maratha legacy. More than a visual landmark, the monument was imagined as an educational and cultural experience, offering visitors an opportunity to engage with the stories, achievements, and values of the empire. The design took the form of a monumental hand holding a sword—an instantly recognizable symbol associated with Maratha valor and resilience. Bold, distinctive, and monumental in scale, the proposal sought to create a world-class attraction rooted in the history and identity of Maharashtra.

A series of conceptual, sketch-inspired visuals were developed to communicate the story and narrative surrounding the monument beyond its physical form. Rather than simply depicting the structure itself, the images explored a broader world around it—capturing the journey of visitors ascending Raigad Fort, large public gatherings at its base, and cultural events that celebrate the history and legacy of the Maratha Empire. Through these scenes, the monument is presented not only as a landmark, but as a living cultural destination that brings people together through shared history and collective memory. The monument takes the form of a monumental hand holding a sword inspired by the iconic Maratha weapon distinguished by its characteristic D-shaped knuckle guard. Instantly recognizable and deeply rooted in the visual identity of the empire, the sword serves as a powerful symbol of courage, resilience, and military prowess. The conceptual visuals use atmosphere, scale, and human activity to illustrate how the monument would be experienced, helping to convey its ambition as a world-class cultural landmark and a tribute to the enduring legacy of the Marathas.

The monumental hand and sword rest upon a museum complex designed to offer an immersive educational and cultural experience. Through exhibitions, artifacts, and curated narratives, visitors are introduced to the history, achievements, and values of the Maratha Empire, transforming the monument into more than a visual landmark—it becomes a destination for learning and cultural engagement.

Envisioned atop the Raigad landscape, the monument emerges as a striking presence, its immense scale and bold form commanding attention across the surrounding terrain. Rising prominently above the fort, it serves as a powerful symbol of the strength, resilience, and legacy of the Maratha Empire.
